Truffles and other Edible Fungi
When you want to be sure you have the desired fungal species on your tree roots, DNA testing provides certainty for your investment.
While the tests cannot guarantee your trees will produce truffles, a positive DNA result unequivocally determines the species present.
We offer DNA tests for the following species:
- Perigord Black Truffle (Tuber melanosporum)
- Winter truffle (Tuber brumale)
- Chinese truffle (Tuber indicum)
- and a world-first DNA assay for the aggressive contaminant AD mycorrhizae (Rubini et al., 2011)
White truffle species
- Tuber borchii (bianchetto or white-ish truffle)
- Tuber maculatum
We also have tests for a number of mushroom species and are able to develop new DNA assays for species of interest. In addition, we are able to use the universal 'signature' region of fungi to establish the identity of unknown fungi.
We test tree and seedling roots and the fruiting bodies (actual truffles/mushrooms).
